Children's Ministry
Children are a blessing and a gift from the Lord.
Psalm 127:3 (CEV)
At The Sanctuary, we value the opportunity to partner with parents to teach children about the goodness of God and His love for them. All of our programs are designed to accommodate children at varying stages in their spiritual development. Sunday programs center around teaching Biblical virtues in a fun, upbeat and entertaining atmosphere. Mid-week programs engage kids in scripture memory, active participation, and teamwork.

Clear, consistent presentation of the gospel and Bible memory is the cornerstone of AWANA. AWANA includes circle games, a fun approach to learning God’s Word and leadership training that is second to none. Through AWANA, the church leaders of tomorrow are trained to serve today. There is a strong evangelistic focus for reaching unsaved kids and families.
AWANA uses badges, points, rank and other incentives to encourage kids to memorize scripture. Adult volunteers work one-on-one with kids to help them become achievers.
SECURITY
All children, 5th grade and below, MUST be checked in by a parent or guardian. Upon check-in, Children will be issued a name badge with a unique security ID. Parents are given a pick up badge with the matching security ID. All security ID’s will be verified by the children's staff at the end of service as you exit. In the case of lost badges, parents and children must check out with the Children's Pastor or senior team member. We have a 100% badge check policy – even for regularly attending members; so please be patient at check-out.
ADDITIONAL SECURITY POLICIES: 1.) All children's staff members are pre-screened using personal references and national criminal background checks. 2.) Our "child-safe" policy states that no staff member is to be alone with a child at any time. Where possible, at least two staff members are present in all meeting rooms. 3.) All classroom doors are to remain unlocked during meeting times for frequent and unannounced access.
PARENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO: 1.) Show their child where they typically sit for a service. 2.) Help their child memorize mom or dad’s cell phone number. This will help us tremendously if we need to contact you during a service. (See "How will you find me if you need me?") If you have specific reasons to suspect you may be needed during service and do not have a cell phone, please notify a Children's
Staff member, and they will provide you with a pager from the nursery. 3.) Notify the check-in attendant of any food allergies, custody disputes or behavioral problems.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Will my child be served a snack? KinderChurch and Nursery serve snacks on a regular basis. Other programs will sometimes use candy for rewards in
small group time. We also serve snacks as part of special day/holiday celebrations. If you have concerns about what foods your child may be served, please notify the attendant who checks your child in at the beginning of service.
Can I visit a service with my child? YES! We have an open door policy. We encourage parents to visit any children's service or program with their child.
How do I pick-up my child? At the end of service, enter through the hallway near the Children’s Check-in Counter. Please remain in the hallway (where your child cannot see you) if the children's service is not over. At the end of the children's service, children are instructed to remain in their seats until they see their parent/guardian. You and your child may exit through the doors on the opposite side of the Fellowship Hall where your security badge ID’s will be verified. Please help us keep a one-way traffic flow through this area since our hallways are narrow.
What is your discipline policy? Our programs are fast-paced. Severe discipline problems are rare. Our children's staff lovingly corrects children who are being a distraction to others. After being corrected twice, children are separated. If problems persist, children are isolated in the back of the meeting room. If these measures are not effective, children will be delivered to the parents. In rare, extreme cases where the Children's
Staff and Children's Pastor are in agreement that a child's behavior poses a danger to himself or others, the child may be barred from participating in children's programs unless their parent/guardian attends with them.
How will you find me if you need me? In the event a parent is needed during service, we will try to locate you in the least distracting manner. First, your child will be escorted by an usher into the auditorium to attempt to locate you. It is a good idea to try to sit in the same general area and make sure your child knows where you sit. If we are unable to locate you using this manner, we will attempt to call your cell phone (assuming your child knows your number). If we are still unable to reach you, your pick-up tag number will be flashed on the screens at the front of the auditorium. If you have specific reasons to suspect you may be needed during service and do not have a cell phone, please notify a Children's
Staff member, and they will provide you with a pager from the nursery.
Can I join the ministry team? YES! We are always interested in talking to members of
The Sanctuary who love children. All applicants are screened using personal references, length of attendance verification and national criminal records background checks. Applicants should have attended
The Sanctuary for at least 6 months and must be a member or actively pursuing membership.
